AVANCEN was founded by Sharon Conley, a PhD Biochemist and MD Oncologist who had a mission of improving patient care at the bedside. As a physician, Conley was keenly aware of the need for better pain management systems and set her sights on finding a better way. In 2005, AVANCEN entered the marketplace with its initial product offering, a "world's first" oral PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia) device simply called the MOD(R), which means Medication On Demand.

As a company, AVANCEN is focusing on marketable product design and launch of leading-edge medical devices that are designed to benefit both the healthcare industry and the patients it serves by improving patient bedside care, comfort, and convenience. For the MOD(R) and other products currently in development and testing, AVANCEN is working with highly capable industry-leading turnkey manufacturers for their patented devices and related patented disposable products.
